The project for the construction of the woodworking enterprise of JSC “Bereznik” in the Sokol Industrial Park received support from Oleg Kuvshinnikov, Governor of the Vologda Region.
Currently, our company is the only resident of the Sokol Industrial Park.
In March 2021, the Governor of the Vologda Region visited the construction site of JSC “Bereznik” and personally reviewed the progress of the works.
Oleg Kuvshinnikov met with investors and assessed the readiness level of the 12,000 m² production building that has been under construction since 2019. Construction and installation works are currently underway for the administrative and production building, the main 14 MW boiler house unit, and foundations for the main process equipment, which has already been purchased and is being installed.
“A huge workshop of 12,000 square meters is being built from scratch in the Sokol Industrial Park. The enterprise will produce birch plywood meeting all international quality standards and will supply not only the Russian market but also export markets. The investment volume exceeds RUB 3 billion,” noted Oleg Kuvshinnikov. “We decided to provide state support for this enterprise through the Development Corporation. In the near future, the company will submit documents to the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation to obtain the status of a priority investment project.”
Another issue discussed during the Governor’s visit concerned personnel training for the wood processing industry. After commissioning, JSC “Bereznik” will create around 300 new jobs with salaries above the industry average. In this regard, Governor Oleg Kuvshinnikov instructed the head of the Sokol District, Yuri Vasin, to further develop the Sokol Forestry Polytechnic College, with which JSC “Bereznik” has already signed an agreement on specialized personnel training.
As noted by the Governor of the Vologda Region, once the new enterprise in the Sokol Industrial Park reaches full capacity, the wood processing level of timber harvested in the region’s forests will reach 80%. According to the results of 2020, this figure stood at 75%.
